I had originally gotten a 50% off coupon from a next door business about a year ago, and decided to try Superfood Bar out. Now I literally drive from Metairie every weekend morning (both Saturday and Sunday) to get a banana nut smoothie with the added cold brew coffee. Everything I've ever tried there is super healthy and delicious, with combinations that you wouldn't normally think would taste good together. I highly recommend it!

I have been on the "hunt" for an avocado smoothie for a while now. I have heard they are the hot new thing because avocados are super good for you and rather than take the time to buy avocados and make my own, I just wanted to buy one somewhere. Seems reasonable? Anyway, when Joi B. posted a picture of hers on instagram and mentioned that she got it at Superfood Bar, I knew I had to check this place out. I wasn't disappointed at all. The place is small, but was easy to find. They have a lot of "raw" foods, and as you would expect, everything is super healthy. I got my "simple" avocado smoothie which comes in one size- 16oz. It was fantastic! First of all, it is basically a cup of pureed avocado with a little coconut in it. It is perfect if you are as much of an avocado lover as I am. Second of all, I was surprised at how filling the smoothie was! I had some cheese with it and that was basically my lunch. Finally, it is WAY cheaper than a place like Smoothie King and doesn't taste like it is loaded with sugar. It seems like whatever I get at Smoothie King just tastes overly sweet. All I got from my smoothie here was the flavor that I was looking for. I will definitely be back. I want to try more of their menu and see what else they have to offer.

The most affordable health food pop-in shop. Thank you Superfood Bar!

I love Superfoods. I try to get a smoothie as often as possible... sometimes twice a day. My favorites are the Pineapple Basil Coconut and the Chocolate Coconut. I am addicted to Maca and am a much happier person because of it. We need more healthy places like this in New Orleans! As I have mentioned to Joseph in the past- if Superfoods was open earlier they could catch the before work crowd :)

After having many great experiences with the guy that worked there for months ( owner I believe?) I had one irritating enough to comment on, but not enough to deter me from returning to grab a healthy snack ! One morning I waited for close to 15 minutes with only one lady in front of me who had ordered a smoothie- I was never acknowledged even after she left. He completely ignored me while he cleaned the blender. He then seemed like he had better things to do than to inform me they were out of a particular fruit for the smoothie I normally get. No suggestions for any other option. No apology for the wait or lack of fruit . Still, mostly great experiences with the very informative and helpful (owner?) . I also had more annoying experiences at another local juice bar on freret.

I love this place. It may be pricey, but if cheap is what you want then go to Smoothie King and let them pump strawberry syrup into your cup. I like to bring my big mason jar and drink off it for a few days. The food is innovative and high quality, healthy and quite tasty even if you're not the crunchy granola type (no disrespect, I love you crunchy granola types). A big green shake is a great meal replacer to offset hormonal helpings of Period Pie (Oreos, ice cream, mashed to oblivion with a spoon). Also they do change their menu seasonally so it's worth going in to see what's new.

In love. Absolutely. Very friendly staff and while I've only had one smoothie (so far, soon to be many many more) it was amazing. I couldn't decide my whole walk over which I would get so I just asked for a suggestion. It wasn't either of the ones I was debating on, but they know their products best, and I definitely didn't regret it! That was quite a while ago and as I was told, I'm not hungry, no coffee crash, and I feel great ^_^ I can't wait to go back and try a Banilla...or maybe an Avocalada...or maybe everything? :)

How did I just discover this place? It's a gem. Friendly staff and delicious, healthy snacks. I wish i could afford to go every day.

This wonderful little nook on Magazine St. is the oasis of nutrition in the land of fried, salty, processed Southern foods. The owner and patrons are kind, caring people who have so much information and positivity to share with New Orleans. Definitely a must for those interested in raw, vegan and whole foods.

Yummy smoothie with tons of crazy granola chunks. Joseph and Amy know their stuff!

Came in for a green smoothie after working out. The shop is small but very clean, and the staff is super nice! Excellent customer service. I had the green glow smoothie and added ginger to it. It was fresh and light! The smoothie consistency was more of that of juice with some ice chunks, which was a little disappointing since I like my smoothies to be thicker. The ginger flavor wasn't too strong, and I could really taste the celery. It definitely wasn't sweet at all even though it has banana, so if you're looking for a sweet smoothie, you might want to try a different one. My smoothie was $7.50, which is pricey for a smoothie but average for these types of shops. While I don't think I can make this a habit, I do look forward to coming back to try other juices in the future!

Great smoothies, wraps, and juices, but the customer service is the best. Great neighborhood gem. It's nice to have healthy options in the neighborhood.

  • Jim G.

Can't quite pinpoint exactly why, but . . . I like it. Maybe it's the feeling I'm doing the healthy thing. Had the frozen cold brewed coffee -nice, coconut macaroon things-tasty, and the black bean burrito-all good too (maybe a little plain because you ain't going to confuse the coconut cheese on there with cheddar fo sho). Now nothing here's going to beat say a good greasy cheeseburger in flavor, but it's a healthy alternative and a pretty good one. The service is pleasant enough and the couple times I've been it wasn't crowded. For the health conscious there's an added bonus-it's on Magazine so you get to walk a couple extra blocks because parking around there's jammed up.

This place is awesome! I've gotten really good smoothies and highly recommend the black bean wrap with cashew cheese! Everything is filling and leaves you energized for the day with that healthy feeling.

Neat, spartan place with very interesting and tasty menu items. I'm not a vegan, but I enjoyed this reprieve from NOLA's typical artery - clogging food.

It was 4:00PM after an amazing time falling head over heels in love with NOLA and I was about to embark on my 13 hour-ish drive back to Tulsa, OK. What did I need to get me the strength to make the trek? SUPERFOOD BAR (thanks for the perfect rec, Joi B!) This area of town is definitely worth exploring. Whenever I have the chance to return, I will first pick up a juice before exploring all of the neat boutiques! Hokay, hokay: THE JUICE. You guys, I don't know how to explain it better than you get total fresh bang for your buck. My green juice was loaded and not watered (or cucumbered or whatever) down at all. This drink totally reset my body and I am so thankful. Before sipping my super green drink, I had a small shot of some kind of immunity booster. Wow. Talk about concentrated goodness. If I lived in Nola I'd be a regular. This place is just downright dreamy.

  • Gaëlle R.

Great healthy and delicious place. I went there for the first time today for lunch and I'm glad I did. I ordered a wrap and salad combo, and a green lemonade. It filled me up for the whole afternoon without making me feel full. The guy (David?) was very polite and welcoming. Awesome! I will be back!

  • Will T.

Needed some green in my life & they delivered. The drinks I had are not for beginners. If u like your green smoothie super sweet, then let them know. For me, the green avocado smoothie w/ protein delicious. My wife had a ginger drink. It had other stuff in it, but all she could taste was ginger. I thought it was delicious also but I like my drinks earthy. I will be back, probably alone tho. Lol

Not much to look at from the outside, but delicious smoothies on the inside. Great smoothies along with homespun friendly customer service. I had to give it the 5 star tap. Before we started our Saturday apartment hunt, we hit up Superfood bar to grab a couple of morning smoothies. We wanted something light to bridge us until our hotdog lunch binge. Enter yelp map...found a place Uptown that was not a chain and had some good reviews. My fellow Yelpers steered me right per usual. We loved this place. After Shari V had the first sip of her smoovie (Workaholics), she was looking into monthly packages. She had the banana nut smoothie with a shot of cold-brewed coffee. Delicious smoothie that satisfied her caffeine fix. It came with large chunks of granola on top. According to Shari V, it added some nice flavor and texture. I had the Tropical Berry blend. Totally good smoothie. Fresh ingredients did the talking. The place is simple. Ordering counter and maybe 3 tables. The guy who took our orders asked us where we were from and chatted us up a bit. Really friendly guy...owner I suspect. He was a nice guy and was clearly proud of the establishment. Rightfully so IMO. Small touch: They offer normal-sized straws and those huge milkshake straws. These come in handy for things like chunks of granola. I plan on repeating so much, I'll be able to go up the counter and order "the usual". GF Quote: "Only regret was I didn't get a 20 ounce"

  • Sam G.

Totally unassuming for a raw food place - casual and light. The superfood salad was amazing though it was mostly the dressing and something that tasted like blue cheese that made it special - otherwise the ingredients are things I commonly have in my salads at home (beets, greens, carrots). The viet wrap was good though a touch on the small side. The green glow smoothie was the only disappointment. It's supposed to come with kale/spinach/romaine so I was expecting fresh greens to be blended up. Instead, the smoothie was filled with that spirulina-type powder which I just don't enjoy. The granola on top had way too much cinnamon for my taste. Wish the portions were a little bigger and the smoothies were a little better balanced but otherwise a solid place to detox after three days of heavy NOLA eats.

Really good, organic, pure, even the menu font formatting, vibe inside is clean and pure. Great place ! And it's nice & inspiring that they offer a 20% discount to police, firemen, military, & veterans.

I love this place! I'm addicted to the Green Glow smoothie, SFB salad, and the tacos. Everything is reasonably priced considering it's all fresh and organic.

  • Kate L.

I want to like this place, I really do! The product is usually good, and it's clear that the owners care a lot about health and nutrition. However, it is EXTREMELY over-priced. $8 smoothies are never filled up to the brim, and they charge $7 for coconut water when you can buy fresh coconuts (the same amount of liquid) for $1.99 at the Hong Kong Supermarket. Absurd! Also, their salads.... Half-full plastic tin, sitting with the dressing on it all day... $9.50?? Heck no. I saw a yuppie couple come in and get two drinks and a salad, and it rang up for $28. That's the price of a filling, sit-down meal! I saw their jaws drop politely as they went ahead and paid it. Doubt they (or I) will be back. If they would cut the prices way down and actually FILL their cups up to the brim, they might be surprised and how much business they can keep.

Superfood Bar is truly unique in this city. The two best smoothies I have had are the Green Pineapple and the Tropical Maca. They have options for healthy proteins as well (no whey! yay!). I have ordered their raw pizza in the past, and it was incredible. Their new seating area is clean and bright, I'm super happy they were able to expand! I'd definitely suggest stopping by for some flavorful foods!

This little tiny place could do so much for New Orleans. Super Food! Foods like spirulina that can give you super powers! If you're in the mood for a healthy smoothie or some raw foods like kale bites, you should definetly try this place out. The staff are really nice and will answer any questions you have without rolling their eyes or snickering at your less than ideal food knowledge. The only reason I don't frequent it more often is because it's a little expensive. I can't afford to spend $11 on a smoothie and find out that I don't like the taste at all. Plus, I know lots of people who say that these are liquid meals...but, I'm hungry 20minutes later so this cannot count as a meal for me. If I had extra cash lying around, I'd up my healthiness a few times a week with some avocado and earth drinks. Also, if you had kids (or are a kid at heart) try out the natural fruit rollups.

Fantastic raw, vegan food that is very satiating. I had the butter nut pumpkin spirals with cashew alredo and raw vegan sausage. For drinks I had the choc coconut milkshake, both were outstanding!

  • Conrad G.

Excellent array of juices, sandwiches, salads, and smoothies. Their menu will not break the buckle or bank. It was a nice treat to take a break from my home-juicing schedule to have someone else serve it up. Thanks for the nice afternoon refresher!

While there is construction going on in front of the tiny storefront, look for the SuperFood window and get yourself a tall drink of green deliciousness. I met Joseph and Amie a few weeks ago during my first stop in and they entertained me for well over 30 minutes with their passion for their craft. They have tons of fresh ingredients, they make their own kombucha (the Samurai label belongs to Joseph!), they use lots of different grains and other heart-healthy treats. I can't say enough about this place. A goal of mine is to pop in here weekly to remain inspired! p.s. I think they're closed Mon & Tues....

Amazing restaurant that is a healthy haven for NOLA. The owner, Joseph, is wonderful and always willing to talk to customers to help them understand superfoods. I highly reccommend it!

Had an eye-opening lunch at Superfood Bar last week while visiting New Orleans. We are not vegans or even vegetarians - not even close - but you do not have to be in order to appreciate this food. It makes you feel better WHILE YOU ARE EATING IT and better yet, the natural food flavors were as tasty as anything we had in the city. I noticed a few comments about the prices, but as someone who buys and sells food for a living, let me tell you: you get what you pay for. The cost to buy superfood quality ingredients, prepare them, and still earn a few cents on the dollar amounts to the prices you see here. In fact, I'd say these prices are quite generous. Thank you Superfood Bar for a great experience. We only wish you had a location in Wisconsin!

  • Joi B.

Supergirl back to report on the expansion of Superfood Bar! They took over the next door storefront to allow for a dining room and a larger kitchen area in the original tiny storefront. I also noticed some new additions to the menu, including a raw falafel salad that is out of this world. The falafel is made of raw seeds and spices and tastes far better than an actual falafel (which at their worst, I find to taste rather pasty and sometimes like the oil needs to be changed. Gross!) I might also add that the tahini dressing is magical. I spied a fantastic deal where you get 7 salads or wraps, plus 7 juices or smoothies for the low price of 100 dollars (must use it in the span of 10 days). I figure that would be 2 meals a day and would solve my problem of getting sick to death of the same damn massaged kale salad I eat day in and day out, not to mention my out of control Whole Paychecks. The *only* issue would be the trip Uptown daily to get fresh juices, as I figure the salads/wraps can be bought a couple days in advance. I'll have to think on a way to make this work. Or maybe by some miracle, they'll do a delivery service? Hint hint :) This supergirl still hasn't mastered her flying powers and detests driving. Anyway, I'm really happy that there's a place with such raw talent in the kitchen that gives us all super powers. Blizzow!!!!!

I love baked mac & cheese, fried chicken & boudin balls as much as the next New Orleanian, but let me tell you -- Superfood is a fantastic break and detox from the decadent eatery adventures in this city. So far, I've been here 3 times. First two times I had juice and today I tried the Viet wrap w/ fresh avocado + juice. The juice has been consistently great and the wrap hit the spot. The people who work here are very nice and seem to love providing healthy options for New Orleans. Happy to have them in the hood.

  • Jen L.

Tiny storefront that sells salads, juice, smoothies, raw bars, and supplements. I tried the superfood salad and it was really delicious. I also went for a juice spritzer that was pretty tasty...and affordable. Not my usual sort of spot but when you're in the mood, they hit the spot.

Love this place! The vanilla coconut smoothie is da bomb!

    (5)
  • K M.

A bit overpriced but I think that kind of comes with the territory for health food in New Orleans. I thoroughly enjoyed my blueberry smoothie and would definitely come back! The ambiance is sterile and austere so I would suggest grabbing the drink to go!

YAAAY Super Food. If you are on Magazine and blink you just might miss this place. It is on the same block as Feet First (there's a hint). This is a small little place and I think the guy that owns it also is serving up the yummy drinks. They have Samurai Tea, Spirulina Lemonade, Coconut water, and Coconut Green Teas. If you aren't in the mood for a smoothie they do Superfood Ice Tea you can choose from Chlorella, Spirulina, or Maca to have mixed in with your choice of Yerba Mate Tea or Lemonade, sweetened or unsweetened. The coconut water comes straight out of the coconut and not out of a bottle or can. You can find periodic snack specials like Kombucha pickled watermelon rhine with thai basil and lemon verbena. They also have daily specials on Kombucha, sorbets and ice creams. The fresh raw smoothies are amazing and truly good for your body (no Smoothie King vibe here). They will top your fresh smoothie off with fresh raw granola and you will be on your way. You can also bring in a mason jay and they will fill it with a 24oz smoothie. I also live that all their packaging they use is eco friendly (cups are made from corn). Seriously if you haven't tried this place out you need to get in here and get some health in your life. Don't get me wrong even if you aren't a "health nut" everything here is super tasty and the staff is totally not intimidating. The people there will be happy to explain anything and answer any questions you may have. The great taste is just a bonus in all of it.

  • Isabella L.

Friendly staff. Minimalist set-up doesn't justify the hefty price tag. We ordered the green and cilantro lemonades. They were fresh, but wish they would have been ice cold since it was 90 degrees outside.

  • Rod S.

I was waaay excited to find this place smack in the middle of Magazine Street. It is so refreshing to get a break from the fritters and heavy seafood, and to have it be tasty as well is just a dream come true. Their smoothies are the bomb, and are a must cool down drink in the summer. M-inator and Tropical are stars, but everything else looks amazing as well. Can't get enough of the fresh ingredients, superfoods, and general brightness of the place. Keep it up, and open one in DC!

This place is incredible. I had the superfood salad and my boyfriend had the Vietnamese wrap. I am so excited about their delicious vegan ranch dressing, and there coconut bacon was spectacular. this restaurant is very inspiring.

  • B. L.

I am withdrawing my support and positive review of this business. As a New Orleanian and a person who attempts to live life the right way by my fellow man, the fact that the owner of this business celebrates other Magazine St. businesses going out of business and my neighbors losing their jobs is absolutely reprehensible. I am disappointed by the people in charge of Superfood Bar and as a neighborhood resident will not be providing any more patronage. Their actions demonstrate that they are not positive neighbors or New Orleanians.

The Goat has a new love and he feels a special need of the wholesome fresh healthy Vegan and raw food options at the most magnificent Superfood Bar. The people working here are so amazingly gentle and wonderful people that are so very kind and sweet with such very specially amazing customer appreciation of The Goat that it makes him feel like more than a customer. The Goat very much enjoys the vitality of the very most excellent kombucha elixir beverage that helps the Goat feel so much more healthy clean wonderful after a long night of drinking the strong vodka drinks so that Goat can work so much better and his mind is so much more clear. Very special place and quality ingredients of such wonderful fresh things here and it all makes the Goat so very happy! The Goat much highly recommends the most highly crafted and such fresh tasting smoothies here to help people be more gentle and happy!!!

Love it!! Solid 5 stars for Superfood Bar, I've been coming here since it first opened and I'm happy it is thriving. Healthy food in Nola is possible! Vegan, raw and organic. Joseph the owner really cares about his products, dishes and has great vision for his spot. His smoothies are the best! And he will happily share his ideas about health and his concepts of a healthy diet. Superfood bar is not cheap but definitely not outrageous. Health comes at a cost and their prices are reasonable. Superfood bar has great quality items made from and for people who really care. If you are healthy in Nola, this place should not be missed!

  • Margaret D.

I'm not vegan or even vegetarian and definitely not a super healthy eater much of the time, but I decided try Superfood Bar today mostly out of curiosity and was very pleasantly surprised. The place is small and simple, but the service was very friendly and quick. I ordered the Superfood Bar salad to go and it was really good and surprisingly filling. I was dubious at first, but all the ingredients were really fresh and the coconut bacon was as awesome as everyone says it is. The place seems dedicated to what they do. They had a white board up with some info about the juicing process to clear up some false info. I didn't think the prices were too bad. I'll definitely be back to try to some of their juices, smoothies, and sandwiches when I need a break from the usual, not so healthy New Orleans fare.

Super healthy organic juices and wraps what else do they have, I don't even know but what I do know is that I'll be back for sure! The curry garbanzo wrap was delicious so was the hangover juice I got. Super affordable menu!

This place is something else. Wish I could give it 10 stars, lol. I stop in almost everyday. Great menu and the staff is always so friendly and accommodating. So many healthy eats that also taste amazing. They have juice and smoothie packages, too. All organic. Must try.

walked by - thirsty. ordered the avocolada smoothie. the original size was $7 - she asked if we wanted to upgrade to the large - our total was more than $11 then!? wasn't ready for that! nevertheless - EXCELLENT smoothie, would order again (probably the original size this time... :)

We were visiting from Vancouver, Canada, and for all the health food nuts we have up on the West Coast, Superfood Bar ranks among the best juice spots I've been to. Sweet staff and delicious food. And, of course, fantastic juices and smoothies. Very well-prepared.

  • Bonanza L.

I love this place! Coconut is super healthy, and this place has found really creative ways to feature every part of the coconut as an ingredient throughout most of their dishes and drinks. Their "coconut bacon" is quite possibly the best invention since sliced bread. Actually, I take that back -- it's better! Also the owner is a really cool guy. My friend and I showed up at Superfood Bar for the first time just as they were closing (the door was already locked when we arrived). Feeling dismayed, we began walking back to our car when the owner opened up the door and told us we were welcome to come on in and order something. Honestly I wouldn't have faulted him for not letting us in that late, but the fact that he did anyway earned him a 5+ star rating from me! P.S. -- Did I mention that the food is fantastic as well? Because it is!

  • Shannon S.

They have expanded their offerings and I was able to get a great plain flavored kombucha tea and a great green smoothie. They have a lot more products and menu items available now and this a great place for some healthy items that you aren't going to find anywhere else in the area. For such a small place they pack a lot of punch and they take credit cards.

I've only been to this place once. I ordered the black bean and wild rice salad and a spritzer. The ingredients were fresh and the salad was pretty good, but my main complaint is regarding the size of the salad. For $10 salad, I was expecting it to be enough for a meal, but it was more like a small snack. I'm mainly writing this review to give feedback to the owner/management. would it be possible to increase the size of the salads so as to make a meal out of it (maybe double the size)? Everything was fresh and i love the idea of this place, lord knows new orleans needs more healthy food options, and the staff was very friendly. I just can't afford to pay lunch prices to get a snack amount of food. And i'm not asking for a huge amount of food, just enough to fill the stomach and hold me over til dinner (i'd like to emphasize that i don't want a portion thats too big like most restaurants these days serve). My friend ordered a different salad and a smoothie, and was also very hungry still after finishing both, and paying a total of 18 dollars (10 for the salad and 8 for the smoothie). we were both quite disappointed and considered going to popeyes for a piece of chicken to finish the job, but decided against it. All this being said, i plan to return and try more things like the smoothies, juice mixtures, etc. definitely give this place a try just be warned that if you are hungry for a meal, you should probably go somewhere else until they increase the size of their salads.

I enjoy savoring only the best food available. Each meal should be an experience and let me tell you... the experience my body enjoyed was definitely to be remembered. I felt amazing after devouring the yummy salad (coconut bacon= amazing) The smoothie and the granola snacks were delicious! Thank you for being so knowledgeable and passionate about healthy food that doesn't taste like healthy food. LOVE LOVE LOVE

What a great find! I got the Avacadalada which was amazing. I've been here a few times and each smoothie is great in their own way. The girl who usually takes my order is friendly and really puts a lot of effort and time into each smoothie being made. My only complaint is that it would be hard to find if I didn't know it was there. More people have to find this place to see how amazing it is!

Yum! I am a neighboring business owner and I started a personal Yelp account JUST so that I could review this incredible, unique establishment. We have carried Joseph's singular Samurai Kombucha at our Spa and Yoga Studio all summer, but today was my first opportunity to get over to Superfood Bar for one of Amie's famous smoothies... I was not disappointed in the least! I had their popular Pineapple Basil smoothie. On a taste basis alone, it was one of the best treats I can imagine - the right mix of sweet, tart, and herby. It was a true epicurean delight. The smoothie also contains a special superfood blend called "Earth," whose long list of nutrient-dense ingredients is posted inside the establishment. Now, most superfood powders in smoothies feel pretty grainy to me... Not this one! The smoothie was incredibly smooth, and the ice was so perfect, it had almost a fluffy consistency. This would be a great food for a snoball-lover transitioning to a healthier diet :) Since my smoothie, I have felt full of energy and I have been able to focus and get a lot of work done. It was also so tasty and the experience so lovely that I have been smiling and spreading the joy all afternoon! It would be an oversight not to mention the incredible selection of superfoods available for home use as well. Joseph and Amie have taken great care in sourcing these supplements in order to ensure the highest benefit in each superfood category (antioxidants, probiotics, and more), and I can tell that their research continues as the world of healthy living grows and the available options expand. While in the bar, I also had the opportunity to taste a bit of a coconut, chocolate, and raw cacao nib smoothie with TONS of raw brown rice protein. I could definitely tell that this one would be an easy meal replacement, even for someone used to eating heavier fare. I am so pleased that the need for truly nutrient-rich SUPER foods is being met right here in our community by such lovely individuals who both have a real passion for nourishing others, and I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their effort!
